BBQ Gathering 2009
Friday, October 30, 2009

Just came back from the BBQ gathering and it was a blast! Thanks for the great time Prisca!

I met Jessica at Clementi at 4.20 and we were talking while waiting for the train to come. And when we got on, we saw Rachel! It was as if she appeared out of nowhere. In the end, we met up with Camille and Ern Jie at Dover and took 14 to the bus stop outside school. There were loads of people at the BBQ gathering today. Probably about 15? Anyway, the food was really good and Teresa and I took millions of awesome photos in which all of us struck cool poses. By the way, it wasn’t really a BBQ because some people took over the BBQ pit we were meant to use so we had a catered dinner instead.

Had another heart-to-heart talk with Camille today before nightfall, while walking around the estate. We talked about quite a lot of issues. But it felt good to get everything out of our systems. When it became dark, everyone started playing with sparklers. Verine, Jessica, Grace, Curtis, Prisca and I took really nice photos (credits to Teresa). I loved the one where Rachel, Jessica and I lay down on the floor of the pavilion (?) and snapped a photo. Eventually, the weather took a turn for the worse and we had to go under shelter. Verine and I were trying to dance Super Junior’s “Sorry, Sorry” dance but it was an epic fail. Oh well, at least we tried! Overall, we all enjoyed ourselves very much.

Oh, and one more thing, on the way home, we had to squeeze in the car and Piao Lin tried to sit on me but it was an utter failure because her arse is just too sharp! I guess I was moving around a lot because it was ticklish so she ended up on Grace’s lap. But it was a good laugh all the same.

Okay, got to go now.

Last Day of School

I”m feeling rather nostalgic right now because its the last day of school. I’ll miss being a sec 1 student but yet, I can’t wait to become a sec 2 student and turn 14. But anyway, gave Verine a box of chocolates today. Hope she likes it! There wasn’t much today though. There was prizegiving this morning and lots of it. After assembly, we returned our report books and cleared our lockers. Then, we were allowed to go home. By the way, I got onto the Student Council! Everyone who went for the interview from 1E got in! I’ll bet that was on purpose because the school usually takes students from good classes to be on the council because they think we’re smart. Anyway, went to Clementi Central with Camille after school to eat breakfast at LJS. The breakfast was super nice and Camille and I had a heart-to-heart talk today. Its nice to talk seriously with your friends once in a while instead of always having fun. When breakfast was over, Camille wanted to go look at phones because she was going to get a new one. But she’s kinda hard to please. She doesn’t want the Omnia, nor the flip phones. So she’s left with the touchscreen ones, the normal ones, and the slide phones. But afterall, its up to her what she wants to choose. I recommended an iPhone or the LG Ice Cream. Hope she gets her new phone soon!

I’m meeting Jessica, Camille, Anais, and Ern Jie later to go for Prisca’s BBQ! Can’t wait for it! Its going to be fun!

Report Book Collection
Thursday, October 29, 2009

Alright, I shall start off with my results. They are a combination of Term 1-Term 4, and I can’t say I’m very satisfied with all of them since none are 90+, but I shall be content (: Can’t wait to start literature in sec 2.

English: 85

Mathematics: 88

HCL: 78 (extremely disappointing but the EOY paper was super tough, but luckily my T1-T3 results pulled me up)

Science: 89

D&T: 80

Combined Humanities: 88

Went to school at 7.30 this morning to collect my report book. They actually raised my total by 3 marks but it doesn’t make a difference to my postition. Had loads of fun today with everyone. We had a chit-chat session with Ms Cai today because there weren’t any parents. And after Ms Cai left, Camille, Piao Lin, Verine, Grace, Jessica and I stayed back in the classroom to play musical chairs and other crazy games. Also, I was introduced to Super Junior and I’m currently addicted to Sorry, Sorry. We actually went down to the pastoral care room for a while to enjoy the air-conditioning. But we went back to the class to collect our bags and headed to Learn@Fairfield. Camille and I studied a bit of Japanese there before heading to Fusion for lunch. I actually visited Eighteen Chefs for the first time and the pasta was super delicious! One of the best pastas I’ve ever tasted. And together with a drink and dessert, it cost $6.40. Piao Lin was the only one who didn’t eat because she hadn’t enough money. Although we did have a really hard time calculating how much change each person was to get.

After lunch, Camille, Jessica (Partner-in-Crime!) and I walked ahead of the rest (Piao Lin, Grace, Verine, and Verine’s mum) and reached school first. I guess we did abandon the rest by heading up to the third floor study corner without telling them, but Camille and Jessica really had to go to the toilet. After their toilet break, we sat down to study Japanese. However, we ended up having an amazingly awesome fun time. We played Truth Or Dare and a few other games. And I actually kissed the dustbin after a few moments of deliberation. We played Truth Or Dare with a couple of Camille’s senior friends looking on. Overall, it was really fun. But we sobered up after Camille’s seniors left. And guess what? I managed to memorise all the hiragana today! I can move on to Katakana at last! What an accomplishment. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had such a fun time with my friends before. Today was indeed the first time I’ve actually enjoyed myself with my friends.

Anyway, tomorrow’s the last day of school and Prisca’s BBQ is tomorrow as well! Can’t wait!

school's drawing to a close
Wednesday, October 28, 2009

I’ve been posting rather irregularly nowadays because I’ve been watching animes and Goong. Anyway, school’s drawing to a close soon. I’ll miss being in 1E though. Its been really fun this year and I know I’ll still have the same classmates next year, but life will be different and it’ll be a whole new set of memories.

Today, Ms Sheena let us watch Hercules during english and Ms Yeow let us watch Slumdog Millionaire and the first part of Spirited Away during design. And, Ms Ng gave us pizza today! I really wish she’ll teach us next year. She’s the best teacher ever. We’ve also gotten some holiday homework: 2 english book reviews, a book study of 水浒传 and a math revision worksheet. Hope we don’t get more. Had the council interview today too. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I’m kinda half-hearted about being a councillor. Anyway, I’ll just leave it in the hands of God.

On sunday, went to the Red Cross Bazaar with Prisca, Luisa, Qingli, Rachel and Claudia. It was fun, although tiring. We walked around quite a lot and bought stuff. I bought 2 cheesecakes, a canvas paintings and a few keychains. There wasn’t much to buy but anyway, thanks for inviting me Prisca! Also, I managed to get a silicon cover for my iPhone from the Mac store at Wheelock Place. Thanks everyone for following me! And thanks Luisa for driving us to the MRT.

Okay, got to go now.

updates
Saturday, October 24, 2009

I haven’t been posting for some time and loads has been happening around here so I’ll start with my results.

My results were fine, not as bad as I was expecting. I was overjoyed when I got my Science results because they were unusually good. Math was fine, and I’m more relieved than disappointed. English was alright as well and Chinese was rather disappointing, but could have been worse. We did level checking on wednesday. And on thursday, we went through the papers. That’s all for results.

Just yesterday, we received our level positions and overall marks. And guess what? I’m top in the level! For the first time in my life, I’m actually 1st. I wasn’t exactly very enthusiastic when Ms Cai announced the top 5 but when I thought about the iPhone I was going to get, I went crazy. My L1R5 was 5 points and my overall score was 500+. I snuck to the toilet to call my dad during class because I couldn’t control my excitement. Then, to celebrate, Verine, Prisca, Teresa and I went to TB to watch My Sister’s Keeper at 2pm. The show was really nice, except for the fact that I was the only one with dry eyes. Also, I bought a Vampire Knight keychain from Comics Connection! Thanks Teresa for lending me the money! After the movie, Verine’s parents drove me home (thanks verine!). When I got home, my parents brought the entire family out to Jurong Safra for a celebratory dinner. The Japanese food was really nice (: But the highlight of last night was my iPhone! My dad brought everyone to JP and bought me a black iPhone 3GS as a present! The phone’s super cool!

Oh, and one more thing, I’m super addicted to anime right now. I finished watching Ouran High School Host Club (Tamaki! Kyouya! Kaoru! Hikaru!) last week and am on Vampire Knight (Zero! Kaname!) right now. Love those animes a lot!

Anyway, got to go now.

what I do on a school-less Monday
Monday, October 19, 2009

There’s no school today, thanks to Deepavali. So, its slacking monday!

Thus, I’m planning to watch Goong and finish a couple of episodes. Then, get some reading done and after that, possibly an afternoon nap. At night, there are shows to watch on Disney Channel so I’ll occupy my time with that. Sadly, there’s school tomorrow.

Overall, the weekend has been pretty restful. I managed to watch quite a number of movies (The Ugly Truth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Speak, Surrogates, Angels and Demons) and catch up on the music scene. Having no exams is fun but it gets boring after a while. I can’t spend all my time on the computer because my mum will be screaming at me about the electricity bill. And there’s hardly any nice movies to watch on TV nowadays except for Disney Channel. Its gotten so boring that I’ve resorted to watching Ben 10: Alien Force on Cartoon Network and A Goofy Movie on Disney Channel yesterday. I can’t believe that I actually enjoyed those shows. Oh well, maybe it just proves the worth of cartoons. And I’m loving the soundtrack for A Goofy Movie. I 2 I and Stand Out are just awesome!

Got to go watch Goong now.

Saturday (without EOYs looming)
Saturday, October 17, 2009

Guess I must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning because I was feeling ultra-crappy. I was practically snapping at everyone. And there was a wedding in my church which my family was invited to, so we attended. It was quite boring actually. And I was yawning continously throughout the entire thing. After the whole ceremony, I didn’t even bother to eat my fill at the lunch buffet because I was pissed at my family for some unknown reason. My brother was kicking up a fuss and I started thinking about how much my family and I have suffered because of his condition all these years and got really mad. I refused to talk to anyone the entire day until I came back from tuition. Having no schoolwork/school/exams can really make your system go haywire.

Anyway, going to go back to DC to watch Princess Protection Program. That movie’s such a disappointment but I shall watch it in order to pass the time.

Outing Day
Friday, October 16, 2009

Went out with Rachel and Prisca today. It was super fun! We met up at 9.15 at the Clementi platform and caught the train down to Orchard. Then, we walked around Ion. We entered Pull and Bear and tried on outfits and took photos! And I bought a caramel frapp because I was feeling sluggish. After P&B, we went to Accessorize and tried on the cool hats there and took more photos. But we pissed the shop assisstant off and got chased out. We spotted the Apple store and took ridiculous photos outside the store as well. Its fun to camwhore once in a while. The only thing I liked about Ion was the bookstore (Prologue!) and the toilets. {Prologue} was really cool! The layouts, the books, the magazines, the colour coordinations…it was nice! I bought the November issues of Teenage and Seventeen because of the Boys Like Girls poster, and the glossy pages which I like to flip. We also went to ArtBox to find Rachel’s stuff but she didn’t buy anything in the end.

After Ion, we headed to Tiong Bahru to watch Surrogates. Rachel and I bought Chewy Juniors! The lemon crunch one was nice. We ate lunch at the kopitiam and Rachel bought her green apple green tea and I got coke from the cinema. The movie was super cool! Or rather, the action was. But it was good all the same. Anyway, went home after that. What a fun but tiring day!

Going to watch The Ugly Truth now.

P.S. Watched Angels and Demons, as well as Harry Potter yesterday. Really awesome! Especially Harry Potter!

EOYs are Over!
Thursday, October 15, 2009

EOYs are finally over! Design paper was quite alright, but I already have 3 questions wrong. But thank goodness they are only 1 mark each.

So, I managed to find loads of ultra-cool movies online! The Proposal, The Ugly Truth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Surrogates, etc. And there’s Speak, WOWP, Hannah Montana, 10 things I hate about you, and loads of other cool shows to watch online! Today’s going to be an awesome day! But I think I’m going to reserve Surrogates for the cinema. I’m currently halfway through Harry Potter and its super cool!

Okay, got to go now. Have an awesome post-EOYs day everyone!

Screwed
Wednesday, October 14, 2009

A willow deeply scarred, somebody’s broken heart, and a washed out dream.

I totally screwed math paper 2 today. I already have 13 marks minused off from my total and plus the 2 marks from paper 1, I’m so going to fail math. I was emo-ing all the way after the paper. Anyway, thanks Prisca, Rachel and Laura for comforting me at Starbucks. Oh, before I forget, went to Starbucks again today for a caramel frapp! Anyway, I shall take this as a learning point and never commit the same mistake ever again. Life’s a long journey, so we should learn to move on (:

There’s design tomorrow, and that’s the last paper. So, after that, its Party Time! And I’m going to mug design to pull my marks up. Its my last hope. But I have a lot of secret misgivings about my other papers as well so there goes my iPhone, flying away into the distance, never to return. (Okay, I’m just being melodramatic.)

By the way, I found The Ugly Truth and The Proposal online! So, after tomorrow, when I get back home, I am going to watch them! Its going to be an awesome thursday! But next week’s going to be hell because, EOY papers are coming back.

Alright, got to go print out my design notes and go and study now.

I’m starting with the man in the mirror, I’m asking him to change his ways.

frustrated and annoyed
Saturday, October 10, 2009

I’m feeling so annoyed and frustrated with myself right now. I promised myself that I would mug like madness today for math, science, and english, but apparently, its not working out at all. I’ve only done 2 math papers and 1 english paper and gone through a bit of my math file. Honestly, what’s wrong with me? Its EOYs for goodness’ sake! Its 55% and I’m slacking. Is it a delayed reaction to stress? I’m getting really nervous about the math and english papers on monday, yet I can’t bring myself to study really hard.

Better go and force myself to do some science and math now. Before I screw EOYs up and live to regret it, on top of not being able to get my iPhone/N97 and being miserable for the holidays.

EOY Paper 1
Friday, October 9, 2009

EOY paper 1 was quite alright today. I wrote a super action story for the english compo and I’m hoping my letter was alright. Then, for chinese, I wrote a regular story, which I’m quite satisfied with, and my letter was fine, I guess. But I’m having secret misgivings about my papers now so I’m praying fervently that they’ll be okay.

Anyway, after the paper, Camille, Prisca, Grace and I headed to Starbucks! I finally got my caramel frapp after so long! It was seriously caramel coffee bliss. And the whipped cream tasted so good. I couldn’t imagine any better drink than Starbucks frapps. After getting our frapps, we walked back and Prisca went home. So I caught the 166 with Rachel, Margaret, Min Yi, Lydia, Grace, Claire and Ern Jie. Camille and Claire were talking crap on the bus and all of us were laughing. Its great to spend time with your friends, especially after an exam.

Right now, I’ve really got to get down to some serious revision for the papers on monday, which is math paper 1 and english paper 2. I’m rather concerned for my main papers so I will mug.

Got to go study now.

life is beautiful
Wednesday, October 7, 2009

EOYs begin this friday and I’m really nervous. Hope I’ll do well!

Anyway, collected my history test today. 38/40 is a decent enough mark so I’ll be happy with it, but what I was really expecting was full marks or a 39/40 so I was a little disappointed when my friends told me about it. But I shall be content since I’m the highest in the level.

Design today sucked majorly because I got back my art history worksheet with red marks all over it for the first part (since I copied the rest of the worksheet off the internet). And I got a gray book booking by Mdm Chong for coming to class late, because I was waiting for Prisca to finish her food. So, to make it up to me, I got Prisca Ang a.k.a. PM Ang to scan the math and science worksheets (which I didn’t get because of don’t-know-who) and email them to me, and print out the 101 pages of home ecs notes for me! I’ll pay her back tomorrow.

By the way, Piao Lin got this really cool new version of the chinese e-dictionary by Creative. It looks like a smartphone! Its so cool! I’m SO going to ask my dad to buy me one. And in the meantime, in order for my dastardly plan to work, I will sit on my current e-dictionary and crack the screen! How creative can I get? Haha.

Got to go now.

P.S. I’m super addicted to Vega 4’s Life Is Beautiful.

stay-at-home Tuesday
Tuesday, October 6, 2009

I’ve realised I’ve not been going to school on Tuesdays last week and now, today. Seriously missing all my friends and PE. But at least there’s fishball noodles tomorrow and wanton mee on Thursday! Sadly, there’s mass run.

Anyway, I’m currently trying to revise my math but to no avail. Its frustrating but I can’t concentrate on anything right now, so that’s why I’m here. Hope to be able to revise math, science, EL and CL compo, as well as memorise 俗语 and 1A 成语/词语. Today’s going to be productive, IF I don’t doze off in the middle of it.

And I’ve just realised that The Saturdays’ songs are actually quite nice. “Up”, “If This Is Love”, “Just Can’t Get Enough” “Work”, “Issues”, they all have a nice tune to them but I wouldn’t say their voices are fantastic. And I don’t like their music videos because they’re rather slutty. But anyway, just take a listen (:

Okay, better get off the computer and study now.

surreal, yet so real
Monday, October 5, 2009

Today was an okay day, not normal nor was it abnormal. I sacrificed my free period to do the history test and surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad after all. I just wrote as much crap as possible on my foolscap and that was that. Hope I do well!

Anyway, Keegan got hit in the *toot* today before science, by David. He was crouching on the floor and crying. Pretty amusing to see actually. But I shan’t be sadistic.

Was laughing really hard in HCL class today, as usual. HCL class is one of the funnest classes in history, especially when you have crazy group members. Zeng Lao Shi gave us chocolates and marshmallows for children’s day (:

Science was just about the boring-est lesson we’ve had today. I was dozing off to sleep and when Mr Chan called on me to answer a question (which I knew nuts about), I was like “Huh? What’s the question?” I owe Teresa for telling me the answer though. Thanks Teresa!

For FC today, we had this skit-cum-talk about smoking by the HPB. The skit was pretty lame and typical but I guess its just about the most logical and the simplest script to come up with. Went home with Rachel, Margaret, Min Yi and Lydia after that. And they actually came to Clementi with me!

By the way, I’m not going to school tomorrow because of my brothers, so I shall use the extra time to revise my work, and fast. Because EOYs start this Friday. I’m super nervous about it. Pray I’ll do well!

Got to go study now.

tentative timeframes, stressful periods, hot tempers
Saturday, October 3, 2009

Okay, I just realised I haven’t been updating for a long time. So far, life’s been rather unpredictable and disappointing at times. I got sick on Monday and went back to school on Wednesday. And I didn’t manage to mug as hard as I wanted to this entire week which is a major thing, because EOYs are next friday. So, I’ll have to make up for it by rushing out my revision this week. How stressful. I’m panicking like crazy and I can’t suppress the feeling that I’m going to do badly.

I also got caught for not wearing my camisole on friday. Its totally unfair because so many other people in our class didn’t wear theirs and only Verine and I got caught. Honestly, what is the school’s problem? And I didn’t manage to take my history test on friday as well because I had to rush off for the interview thing. Home Ecs was extremely un-enjoyable though the hokkien mee Camille cooked was nice. And the interview was just stupid because I didn’t even need to get interviewed and they didn’t allow me to wear my school uniform to take the passport photo. So I had to wear this ugly-looking scarf which the photo-taking lady lent me, over my uniform. My mum kept laughing and I was super pissed by the time it was over. I didn’t bother to say thank you to the lady even though I wanted to because I was just so dang pissed. And later, my mum scolded me. What is wrong with the world? I forgot to bring my EZ-Link card as well so my mum scolded me again. Then, she told my dad, and I got scolded, AGAIN. I had to control and restrain myself the whole of yesterday by pretending to be cheerful when I got scolded. Otherwise, I would have blowm my top in front of my parents and probably get slapped. Don’t ever want to risk that happening.

Just this morning, I was telling my mum how hard it was to study on Saturdays and since I mentioned my tuition in a moment of folly, she scolded and nagged at me the whole morning. Really glad she’s out of the house now. Don’t think I’ll be able to stand it anymore. She finds every opportunity to scold me nowadays. Must be menopause. She scolded me about my piano and ballet, which I gave up. Sigh. I want to pick up piano again but its so hard to find a teacher and I really don’t have the time and motivation right now, especially since EOYs are a major stress-maker. I’ve been praying a little more this week, but sometimes, its just so hard. I know I’m not a strong Christian. But I want to be. I want to find the peace that praying gives so many people.

Anyway, got to study now. Hope to do loads of revision this week, and FAST.
